Mr. Cornsilk,

I am not Cherokee, but my family on my father side are Choctaw. I have been reserching my family genealogy for sometime now and I have just started to really investigate my father side. To me they are family and I am proud whatever they called themselves, but I was shock and sickened by the racism displayed by Indians as a whole concerning slavery. I had no idea that Indians had slaves. How could people who had been annilated by white men turn around and enslave blacks? Why are people going on about the "degree of blood" someone has in order to qualify to be on a "list" which is suppose to determine if one is Indian? Why are racist rules like this still continued by the tribes? My ancestors were Indians. Their skin was black. So what? Whatever I find out about my ancestors, I will never ever want to be part of a race or tribe who thinks that being a Indian depends on a list created by land greedy white men in the 1890-1900 time period.

One last comment. I was looking a some news segment on television and I noticed they were talking about Choctaws in Oklahoma. I only caught a glimpse of the end of the segment, but a man on the segment caught my eye because he could have been the twin of my father's aunt. His face was the face of my ancestors and when I look in the mirror, I see traces of his looks in my face. Until mankind sees himself as one race or tribe, biggoted attitudes such as shown by this so called Chief will destroy humankind.
