Re: Gaines

Hi Cathy,

Thanks for your reply.

We're spoken about these folk several times. Were you able to follow-up on the NARA instructions I eMailed you (with the Gaines Tree) a few months back, and order Manuel Williams (aka Gaines) or any of his sibs enrollment applications/ files from NARA?

Again, here's an abstract of Manuel's enrollment vitals.
WILLIAMS Manuel 40 GAINES Elsie 367f (roll #1503)
BURNEY Mary dead BURNEY David 367r
GAINES Katie dead GAINES James 367r
GAINES William dead GAINES James 367r

Keep in mind that Sadie's cc408 and Manuel's cc367 are (2) distinct documents. You didn't say, but Sadie's testimony, lists her children, grand and gr-grchildren (all "reportedly owned" by Alberson/ Colbert's.

It appears you may have cross-mingled the papers you obtained from the OK Historical Society, because Sadie's docs do not reference Manuel Williams or anyone with the Gaines surname.

Again, if you've not done so already, you'll need to order the Gaines/ Williams enrollment applications, otherwise your research will remain incomplete and at a virtual stand still. Additionally, try to cross reference and order the applications of his Manuel's sibs (Henry, Berry & Annie). Their info. is also included in the Gaines Tree I sent you.

Best of luck!
