Re: Indian boarding school info

Peace,
Thank you Marcella for your response, I hope that you are not offended by the wording of my query--if so please accept my apologies. European assimilation and exploitation of non Europeans--in our country and around the world has been and remains a brutal and dehumanizing history/process.
In the letters that my g-g-grandma wrote to the boarding school she asked that her daughter be trained in a trade--that her schooling in Portland, Oregon was not successful. Our family is just very surprised with this information. The boarding school in Oregon was surprising to learn about because we thought that admission was limited to Indians--our culture was at that time like so many African Americans a mix of southern and African traditions. Our ancestors had been freed from slavery and came west for a new start, so we did not expect to see this information.
Blessings,
Stephanie
