Teri when I was doing research on the Hearings that were held on January 23, 1907 Committee on Indian Affairs United states Senate 59th Congress, 2nd Session. I saw this: in a book at the Library Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians. Unfortunately, I did not copy the front cover or the author name but, I have it stapled to the hearing papers I copied.
1. Be it enacted by the general council of the Choctaw Nation assembled: It shall not be lawful for a Choctaw and a negro to marry; and if a Choctaw man or Choctaw woman would marry a negro man or negro woman he or she shall be deemed guilty of a felony and shall be proceeded against in the circuit court of the Choctaw Nation having jurisdiction the same as all other felonies are proceeded against, and if proven guilty shall receive fifty lashes on the bare back.
Are you familiar with Section VIII, this was on page 69 and the title at the top of every page in the book is CHOCTAW AND CHICKASAW INDIANS.
