Looking at your post again for the 1900 census, I see that Scott was 26 years old. This is the Scott that is married to Rachel Jacobs.

I would assume that the two were married, or unless Rachel took on his last name of JACOBS and Scott just remained single. This happens you know. They were separated.

My conclusion, is that they were either married and separated or never married and just had kids together. Regardless, the bloodline is there.

Also, whether you know it or not, Scott also had a brother by the name of Noble Jacobs. While you're in debate over Rachel can you also figure out Noble.
