Re: New Bill in Congress for Creek Freedmen
In Response To: Re: New Bill in Congress for Creek Freedmen ()
Interestingly this was dropped on the floor of the House, last Tuesday, but this was not known by many until the weekend. Not sure why it was not publicized to the larger community of Freedmen.
I've noticed that as well. The Creek have nothing on their website about it, nor has Tulsa's newspaper (closest major outlet) reported anything on it either.
The Blues in Congress could be tricky here: they could stuff this somewhere as a small amendment to a bill that would surely get passed by the Reds in the Senate, then signed into law. If the bill is harmless enough, it could sneak through without any real scrutiny.
Again, sneaky, but there it is. The Freedmen definitely have another ally in Congress, and they seem to be very aware of not only the ongoings of the FCT, but the cause of the Freedmen, as well as (and more importantly), the treaties between the tribes and the US. Progress is coming on this, and a lot sooner than we thought. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the issues start to see some resolution after the next election.
