Re: A Couple of Questions...

For William Colbert to be the brother-in-law to Green Johnson, I would think that Green had a sister, but who was she?

Since Green died and his parent's died, and no siblings, there is no history to be found.

Or for William Colbert to be the brother-in-law to Green Johnson, William Colbert would have to be the brother to Jane Johnson. So there are multiple ways to look into this, but I am not sure on which way to go. Again, I do see a card for William Colbert, but determining age is the issue, as the age listed for him on Green's death certificate (contained in Green's Dawes Roll packet) is hard to read. I can't tell if he was 35 or 55 when that certificate was created.

If 55, then that matches when he was added to the rolls at 49 years old (Choctaw Freedman card #600), or possibly at 47 years old (Chickasaw Freedman card #707). Both Green and Jane were transferred from the Chickasaw Rolls to the Choctaw Rolls, so it's possible that Colbert stayed in the Chickasaw nation. If I could nail down his age, that gives me somewhere to look.
