Re: Choctaw/Chickasaw Info Needed

Angela and others,

I have found additional information to support the oral history / secondary source information.

While conducting a "wild card" search via fold3 I was able to find the children of John Harpole Carr and his wife Harriet Nail (daughter of Joe Nail).

I was also able to review the Choctaw Freedmen records for Sarah Hines field number; "Choc FR 150" (Dawes #4725). From these documents I learned that she was first owned by Harriet Nail and when Harriet married John H. Carr, she (Sarah) became the the property of John Carr. On the Dawes record she is listed as the slave of John Carr.

I will continue to follow Angela's suggestions and even though my great grandmother "did not" attempt to register / apply I will keep searching. One day plan a research trip to visit the southeast counties in Oklahoma.

If there are any other suggestions in my research, please share.

Thanks. Lyle
