Wilton Williams, Chickasaw Freedmen
In Response To: Re: Celester Stevenson, Chickasaw Freedmen ()
In regards to Wilton Williams, Chickasaw freedmen, married to Sallie Williams, the mother of his children. Sallie Williams was orginally placed on the Chickasaw by blood but was rejected, being that her father was Richard Kimball, Negro and Malsy Kimball (a Chickasaw by blood). The children were refused as Chickasaw by blood and enrolled as Chickasaw freedmen with their father (Wilton Williams), Chickasaw freedmen. Malsy Kimball, was dead.
As an Indian rule, the mother whether by blood or freedmen determines which roll the family willl be on, so if freedmen, the family is placed on the freedmen roll and if by blood the family is placed on the by blood roll.
If I have made an error somewhere (typos), let me know.
