What an accomplishment!!! I am happy for you. You are now an official citizen of the Cherokee nation.
Are your ancestors on the freedmen or the by blood roll, (just curious) that enabled you to become a citizen?
You know in the Creek nation, they reorganized, changing the requirements for citizenship. Through research, I noticed that at the time for Creek freedmen and other freedmen to enroll, they were asked how they were applying and they said freedmen (or possibly talked into it), and later wanted a transfer to the by blood roll, but with no real basis (no documentation of a by blood relative on the by blood roll could be found), the transfer was not granted. Once enrolled, it was hard to get a transfer even if the ancestor was a by blood and dead, making the freedmen a mixed blood, still no transfer.
