Wondering if anyone has any knowledge of Cherokees moving up to Kentucky before or after the Trail of Tears move. I read "Black Indian Slave Narratives" the first story is about the family moving up to Kentucky but the western part. I'm looking to for Cherokees or any Native Americans that I might have moved to eastern or central KY. My family surnames are Penman and Stewart both are said to have Native American ancestry. I've gotten this information from sources both in and outside of the families. Though, no one can nail down what tribe or where they came from.
