Thank you Angela and researching the Dawes records for the children of the slave owner was my next step because I've seen some reference that John Harpole Carr's wife was Choctaw.

Regarding marriage, I will continue to research those records but I'm starting to think that Winnie may have died prior to the Civil War because her sister Mariah is always referred to as "Big Sis" and as my great grandmother maintained, "Big Sis raised all of us".
