Hi Ken,
You forget to mention George's great-grandmother (my 8th ggg-grandmother), Malinda Madden. She is on the Dawes Roll and listed her father as a full-blooded Cherokee (although further research revealed he was half-white/half-Cherokee but listed on the Dawes Roll as 'by-blood'). This genetic family connection makes George mixed with Cherokee as well.
