I am so excited to see all of this wonderful info on the Portee family history. My search has led me to the discovery of my 5th Great Grandmother Louisa Portee who was married to John Harrell. Their daughter Mahala Harrell married Samuel Outten. I have been trying so hard to find out who Louisa's parents were. I am trying to see if I can trace as much of my family as far back as possible. I see from previous posts that there is a major dispute over the origin of the Portee name and lineage. I would appreciate any info on the background of the Portee family and even family stories.
