Hamilton , West-hamblin ancestry, hitting a wall:(
I have researched my ancestry back to my great great grandmother. I am searching for information about Katie(AR), Coy(Missouri), Birdie(Tulsa OK), Narcissa(Muskogee, OK), and Seenie Hamilton. My father has an ancestry.com account, and I think I have done all I can to find more information on them from there.
I cannot find a trace of Birdie, Narcissa, or Seenie. I do not know if this is because of the spelling of their names or not. Everyone said that Katie came "straight off the reservation". This was my only proof that she was possible and Indian/Native American, until I saw a picture of her that confirmed to me that she , for sure , could not have been white. I cannot find any of them on any Indian/Native American census documents. I still had my doubts also until I was told the sisters settled in OK, of all places. I do not know when or how they came to be in OKlahoma, but they did settle there. Also, Katie's father is said to have been a indian, and his picture was stolen from Katie. I do not know if her mother was Indian or a slave. From the looks of the picture, I am leaning towards the mother being Indian as well, but cannot be sure. Katie's father is said to be from Louisiana and mother from Missouri.
I do not know their birth dates, parents names, ect. I am at a loss of where to start. I cannot fathom if the reservation she came from was in OK or AR. Seeing as the father was from Louisiana I cannot fathom what tribe he belonged to, since Katie verified to her decedents while she was alive that he was an Indian. I do not know the how Narcissa or Seenie spelled their names. I do know Birdie's Married name is Bland.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me. I do have a pic of Katie, most people say she looks like an Indian, but cannot say she has feature from one tribe or another...
