I have been researching the Portee name in connection with my family surnames of Anderson & Goin. I have an Elizabeth Goin who married an Issac Portee in Somerset, Kentuclky in 1812. Elizabeth's sister may have been Winnie Goin, of Somerset, Kentucky. I do believe Isaac & Elizabeth moved to Lawrence County, Illinois. Just as my direct line of Winnie & Ezekial Anderson did. I do find an Isaac Portee in 1830 in Lawrence County.

With a marriage record of 1812, my guess would be a possible birth date for Isaac & Elizabeth to be the late 1780's or early 1790's in South Carolina.

The 1840 census does not show Isaac or Elizabeth. In 1840, I find a J or an I Portee, Lawrence County, Illinois census showing the following in the census record.

In 1850 I find no J or I Portee in the census for Lawrence County. But I do find a Mary Anderson born 1790 in SC with two Portee's in the household. I find an Alfred born 1807 in TN and an Andrew Portee born in 1823. Several other Portee families are listed in Lawrence County, Illlinois.

In 1860
A Tilford or Gilford Portee shows up with an Arlenda or Arenda as a wife. I find this family all the way to the 1920s. I also find a Peter and Sarah Portee. Plus several other Portee Families with several different spellings. (Pardee, Portie, Partee)

Can anyone connect this line for me?
