Re: Shawnee & Cherokee relationship/status

Don't get too excited about clarity when it comes to the Shawnees. Their movements from the East to Ohio to Texas to Oklahoma Territory to Kansas and back to Indian Territory are among the most complex human migrations on this continent.
None of the Shawnee tribes, whether we are speaking of the Absentee Shawnees in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the Eastern Shawnees near Miami, the Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma also near Miami or the Loyal Shawnees who remain members of the Cherokee Nation, are purely what their primary tribal history would indicate.
Movement between the groups by individuals and families was very fluid and all three federally recognized Shawnee tribes, as well as those remaining as Cherokee members, have descendancy from each of the other groups.
