I live in an area in North Georgia that is called "Crane Eater". This location is only a few miles from Echota,Georgia, capital of the great Cherokee people long before the unjust Trail of Tears. My local church is called "Crane Eater". We have been told that the area was named after a great Cherokee Chief named 'Crane Eater'. Do you have any information on weather this is true? There is a natural spring fed creek next that surronds this property and a large hill, it is said that Chief Crane Eater's tribe lived here next to this spring fed creek. Do you have any records of them occupying this area. We would love to tie in the heritage of this Chief and the Cherokee people in our church our community. Thank you for any information you can guide us to. I was not sure from your post if this is the same Crane Eater that you were describing.
