Re: Lost Ancestry

Good to hear from you and the fact that there are people reading our posts. I'm fascinated by the fact that we are on the African-Native American Genealogy Forum. Anyway, I'm in the military and have lived in Europe. Siordia in not even common in Spain, but does exist also in some parts in Italy. If you read my last post, I wonder if our name originated from the Basque Ziordia or the Sicilian version Scordia. I have also been told that although most of us (Siordia) are somewhat Mexican now, we are of Italian descent. My grandfather, Juan Rangel Siordia was very light skinned and from what I've been told had deep blue eyes as well. He died when I was 3, I am 40 now. Unfortunately, no one -- in my family at least -- has followed our ancestory. My grandfather was married to Elvira Moncada Villalobos, maybe that will help share some light on things (she was born in Eagle Pass, TX in 1897) died in 1990.
