First off let me say how proud I'am of everyone who is fighting for justice in this unjust place we call america... It's long over due! Go freedman Go...

My grand mother on my dad's side was born in Grand River vinita oklahoma in 1916 and her fathers name was John Henry Ledman and mothers name was Lula Dalton. I remember going to talk with my great uncle whose name was also John Ledman before he passed away. I need some help in establishing some type of history for my family and know deep down we are of indian descent. This information has been eluding us for decades only to find out we may direct related to someone in the indian territory. My grandmother who is on my mothers side has told me several times her mother was indian and we have had an even harder time trying to figure out her story due to the inadequate record keeping that was used against african -freedman and african americans as a whole. can someone tell me something about my family- I also remember going to my aunt mary's house when I was young maybe these names will help.
Mary Ledman my great aunt, Maxine Ledman my grand mother, John Ledman my great Uncle that's all i KNOW! I was born in Bartlesville ok. thank you and I really enjoy reading about the great freedman from the five tribes. and the untold history again that we must put into the history books -This History that our chlidren are being told has to be changed. OKlahoma is a great big history book in itself- especially for freedman and african -americans alike...unlike any told in modern history.
