My grandmother is a Portee her married name is Gipson,however her father was Howard Portee born in South Carolina in 1897, My Greatgrandfather Howard's father was French and his mother was a full blooded cherokee, My Great Grandmother Bessie Harris Portee was also born in South Carolina in 1897, both are either from Charleston or Columbia South carolina, perhaps we are distant cousins,
