Just a slight correction to you interesting history of frybread, which is overall accurate. First, it was at Fort Sumner (not Summer), and The Long Walk occurred in 1864, not 1860, as you suggested. I grew up in New Mexico with frybread at virtually all Indian festivals and didn't really see it in other tribes much until the 1980s.
