Re: Malaglaska?
In Response To: Re: Malaglaska? ()

All of the responses fit into what I've heard about our history. My grandfather told that the "Malaglaska" were brought out of Mobil Alabama and looks as if they may have been brought into East Texas during Indian Removal. I've later learned that Sam Houston and the TX Cherokees raided the settlement and many were kidnapped and sold into slavery in Northeastern Travis county to the Burlesons (old adversaries from the Creek Wars). If the info is true, there are several of the families (about 14) that settled St. John Colony in Caldwell County TX. There are possibly some that might be with the Seminoles in MX. I know much more about their stories but just couldn't find their beginnings. Some American names are Davis (who I know were with "Old Gouge"), Thompson, Baker, Winn, Roland, and possibly Allen, Noble, Carter, Franklin. There are several others whom I believe to be members through marriage. There are so many of us from the Nations here in Texas whom I imagine were snatched and sold here. I'd love to hear more from all of you. Thank you so much. It's taken me so long to find this out. Doug
