Re: Question Concerning Creek Citizenship
In Response To: Re: Question Concerning Creek Citizenship ()
I have been pondering over my original post, your response and other posts.
So, you are saying, if I understand you correctly, is that being a descendant of a Creek freedmen really means NOTHING (no ancestor exist), why because the Creek freedmen were voted out of the Creek nation. (majority rules).
You defined a Black Creek citizen (descendant) as a person of African descent who has an ancestor on the Dawes BLOOD roll and has been allowed to enroll in the Creek nation. The Black Creek citizens are the minority (1/3). Too much is being asked of the Black Creek citizens because they are low in number, like they will really make a difference (I don't think so!!!).
My point is that the majority will probably win again as was done in 1979. This is a Chad Smith situation all over again in the Creek nation. Again, the treaty of 1866 just needs to be honored!!!
The game being played now is citizenship is based upon BLOOD only and who knows which documents are acceptable for proof.
