I am sorry I have not replied to this board for various reasons (primarily fighting illness)
Also, I have not had the time to thoroughly research the history of the Portees. I can tell you that my grandmother's name was Daisy Belle Portee, Her father Ruben hailed from South Carolina. As a matter of fact, I still have many relatives there now. What info do you have on the portees? any input would be great until I'm up and about.
