In Response To: Re: Creek Freedmen William and Monday Durant ()
Wilson was married 2x, right, and Robert's mom was Alice Manuel. I know of some of the descendants of her Manuel ppl.
Monday (Cudjoe) Durant, Sr. was instrumental in assisting Robin Grayson and his sib, Joe organize their churches. Monday conducted the marriage ceremony for Robin and his 2nd wife; Sugar George and his 2nd wife., and more than likely Joe and his 2nd wife.
It was Monday's wife, Creasy Grayson, who was born in 1813. You descend from his other wife, Susan Bruner Durant. I've got quite a bit of information about her. She was mixed Af/ Native, and not a slave. She traveled from the old country w/ her family to IT. There are probably several Bruners in the family cemetery as well.
Do you attend the Durant reunions? Do you know cuz Leonard?
Have you communicated w/ Joyce Settles? She posted on this thread, and the board previously. We'd not communicated before, but she's stated she's researching the Durants for "a GrgrSon of Monday," however, she's not posted since. I'm familiar w/ her book, and her Chickasaw foreparents, the Loves.
I'm going to phone Leonard, and bring him up to speed about interest in the family. He's an elder Durant, and also descends from Dolly Grayson.
Happy to assist w/ your research, I've tons of information and documentation about the Durants.
