The truth is we were owned...just like the farm animals. That's why they didnt bother putting our names on the slave schedule. It wasnt important. When they made a list of all their farm animals, do you think they wrote down the names of their cows and horses? Im sure some of their animals had names. But they didnt record the names...because it wasnt important. They were property. We were property. But I do like the idea of "held" to show that it was against their will.
