Mine were owned too(according to Virginia slave law they were viewed as real estate and last time I checked people didn't hold houses they owned them).
What upsets me is the simple fact that people can attempt to hide this under the rug. Back then they were glorified because of it(i.e. you got special denotation if you owned 100+ slaves).
I think we deserve every right to know what exactly our ancestors went through on whatever plantation/farm.
