Thanks! Two more questions. Was the situation with you , a case where the Index was not at the State Library or did you just go straight to the courthouse? Are there Indexes for other Counties that you know of ie: Goochland or Powhatan? Forgive me, I am trying to learn from you. I have this scenario, On the Register of Birth of my great-uncle, two men were mentioned as 1. house where he was born and 2. the physician. Both of these men were brothers and both owned slaves. In the 1860 Census One brother (the physician) owned one slave age 70,m/b-slavehouse. The other brother who was on the birth register owned only a few slaves but was the employer of numerous other slaves that belonged to a third brother. Where do I go from here? Anyone can chime in.
