I just recieved this email which sheds additonal light on my research of ancestors who were
slaves of the Mrs. Agnes La Force family.

You never know when ligtning may strike.

Hi Art,

Good to hear from you. I have a 100+ page file I can send via e-mail in a few weeks. I'm out of town at the moment and should return by Feb 1. This file has everthing from British letters, pensions, and many records from the Draper papers regarding the capture of Ruddell's and Martin's Stations. Probably more than you need, but interesting reading.

One of the recent finds I made regarding the La Force slaves came from a letter written by Gen. George Washington in which he made a request to look into the return of Mrs. La Force's slaves. The Dec 9, 1782 letter said:

"P.S. Should the Enemy send from Canada, any Negroes belonging to a Mrs Laforce who lately came from thence, I pray your Lordship to have them taken care of and sent on here, that they may be forwarded to her in Virginia."
