In Response To: SLAVE names RAPPAHANNOCK VA! ()
Thanks Gail Swan,
From my 1850 Rappahannock Co., Va research, strongly suspect that the Daniel Jeffries: you supplied from slaveowners / slaves records of Rappa. Co., Va, is the uncle [or other "white" relative] to my known [mulatto], grt- grandfather, Alex. [Bob] Jeffries; Born 1836.
Listed in the 1850 census Rappa. Co., Va. [all "white"] family of Moses & Mary Jeffries is; Daniel, Lucy, and teenager; Robert Jeffries.
Moses & "Molly" were the grandparents of Robert Jeffries; according to the 1865 Fauquier Co., Va. death record of Alexander "Sandy" Jeffries; father of known grt-grandfather, Robert Jeffries. Robert Jeffries 1866 Rappa.Co.,Va. Cohabitation record also verifies this...
FYI: Strongly suspect, Robert Jeffries was listed three times in the 1850 census. 2nd. as teenager, Robert Strother [mothers surname]; in Rappa. Co., Va. And, 3rd. in 1850 Barbour Co., Va. as teenager [mu] Alex. B. Jeffries; with Christian Clark...
Appreciate your research, Jeff / Pa.
