Re: Tayloe Plantation VA/AL
In Response To: Tayloe Plantation VA/AL ()
A plantation is a place that grows the following:Cotton, rice, tobacco,Indego and sugar cane.If the word is looked up,it seems to have something to do with crops growing in a row and there is other meanings and useage also, but nevertheless it is "growing in a row or row" that is the important meaning for me. A farm on the otherhand was a place where small grain was grown, corn, wheat, oats and whatever. Now this Forum calls my home Mt. Airy a plantation, which we have never called it .My family calles it a farm we grow and grew grain and had a stud farm there. It does not even look like a Plantation! Now Just as everyone wants to be called by their correct name,so do we wish that our home be called by its correct name which is Mt. Airy Farm. Now I am Having a wonderful time with this Forum, but I think it is time to call Mt. Airy by its name that I and My family for many past generations have called it which is Mt. Airy Farm. I hope all of you will understand.I and my family thankyou Gwynne
