Unexpected Connections
In Response To: Re: Can Practice make Perfect? ()

Hello,

As Denise has stated "browsing" can have some very unexpected and interesting rewards (finds). A while back searching the Slave Narratives on Ancestry I ran into a very interesting and previously unknown connection.

There is an interview of a "Lizzie Bolden" at the home of her daughter, a Mrs. Perry. It turns out that Lizzie Bolden, an ex-slave being interviewed in Madison County, IN has connections to my Bolden relatives who migrated from IN to the Miami Valley of Ohio. In adition, the daughter in whose home she was being interviewed is the great-grandmother to one of my daughter's best friends here in Springfield, Ohio. They were playmates from childhood and now their children are friends.

Doing as Denise has suggested I had started tracing the Bolden/Perry connection and it lead directly into my FTM database, which incidently now has over 18.000 individuals...they ain't all relatives :), but I am finding more and more collateral connections.

"Browsing"...A good exercise...and something to do when we have the 15-20 inches of snow that we're currently experiencing.
