I will have to see what record indicates that Mariah Barnhill and Willis Whitehurst are supposed to be the parents of Simon Barnhill.
Also Willis and Jane are listed twice during different years in "Somebody Knows My Name". In 1859 they are listed as Willis Jenkins & Jane Staten and in 1860 they are listed as Willis Whitehurst and Jane Whitehurst. So before 1859 they were called Jenkins and maybe even Barnhill and after 1859 they were Whitehurst. There are so many possibilities.
One of my cousins is sure that Willis was sold from the Jenkins to the Whitehurst family because the Jenkins family was having hard times and needed the extra money. My cousin heard that from a older dec'd relative.
I may need to look at some wills from the Jenkins family or Bill of sales records.
