Re: Emancipation Records Look-ups in North Carolin
In Response To: Emancipation Records Look-ups NC ()
Hi. it's me again. I can not seem to find any information on my ggg-grandmother or gg-grandfather. I am in search of Simon Barnhill born abt. 1847 in North Carolina. He is on the 1880 census of Pactolus, Pitt County, NC with his wife Bashi Davenport Barnhill.
Simon Barnhill's mother, Mariah Barnhill, can not be found anywhere. Mariah Barnhill is ONLY listed on the marriage or death certificate of Simon Barnhill. It is estimated that she was born abt. 1821. Mariah Barnhill and Willis Whitehurst are the parents of Simon Barnhill.
Maybe her name was changed (Mary or Maria)? I can not find Simon or Mariah Barnhill on the 1870 census. Maybe Simon was laboring in the field during the time the census was taken?
When you get the time could you please look up any Barnhill, Jenkins, and Whitehurst surnames in "In Full force & virtue" I would appreciate it.
WHTIEHURST, ANDREWS, BARNHILL, JOLLY, ROLLINS, DAVENPORT, JENKINS, BROWN, PEYTON,
MARTIN & PITT COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, AND ANY OTHER SURROUNDING COUNTIES.
Thank you so much
