Re: Emancipation Records Look-ups in North Carolin
In Response To: Emancipation Records Look-ups NC ()
Thanks for the offer! I realize it's a long shot, and I don't know the likely owners names but I am interested in two families:
Bunn & Hester MIGHT have been living on the Josiah Barnes ( a slave owner) farm in Black Creek.
These were old enough:
1870 census in Nahunta, Wayne County, NC
Then, the 1860 slave schedule for Halifax CO lists
G. W. Pearson Agt for Will Draughan: Slaves: 45M, 52M, 42M, 41M, 40M, 30M, 28M, 40M, 36M, 25F, 25F, 17F, 15F, 14F, 14M. 29M, 22M, 21M, 19M, 18M, 17M, 14M, 13M, 13M, 13M, 24M, 22M, 9F, 6M, 15M, 16M, 1/12F
1880 Census in Halifax has these, who later moved to Arkansas:
Berry DRAUGHAN Self Wid Male B 36 NC Farmer NC NC
Can you tie Wright or Berry/Littleberry to any DRAUGHAN owners?
