Re: BEAVERS - slaveholder of Tate

: Will of May 1844 - executed in 1859 (he is listed as dying at age
: 87 1859/60 of pneumonia) - leaving most of his property to wife
: Margaret - executor is Washington BEAVERS - mentions
: "beginning Feb 1869, from hire of Negroes William, Jim,
: John, Nelson, Fenton, Elijah and Sarah"

: I think Nelson and Fenton are your Tate sons.

: Is not clear if the other slaves were sold - you will have to look
: at the actual estate records

: Denise

I am now hitting my self in the head - I posted this months ago - never realizing that the "William" listed is probably William TATE - husband of my great-grandmother's sister. Also listed are his brother Nelson, Fenton and sister Sarah. I'm curious about who Elijah is - since Fenton named one of his sons Elijah - perhaps I've missed one of the sons.

I now plan to take my advice to Diane - and apply it myself next week - will be looking very closely at all records pertaining to the white BEAVERS family in Loudoun - this may be the breakthrough I needed to find my great great grandmother PAYNE.
