1860 Gillins Slave owners
Does the name Gillins, Gillens, Gillons..etc show up ANYWHERE in the state of SC in 1860??? Anything to help narrow down the search in the slave schedules would be most greatful. Charleston County alone has over 400 images, and the name does not appear in the 1860 St. Johns Berkeley area. The earliest record of the name Gillins that I can find in SC is on the 1790 Dorchester District census. Thats a little TOO far back. Im not finding anything on that name between 1790 and 1870 in SC.
