I have read the book and it is in deed a terrific study. For my purposes It is now important to find descendants of the Schimmelmann slaves. On May 21 in response to Denise I had posted a message in which described a slave descendant I had found on another message board. Apparently she lives now in Iceland. But I have not been able to locate nor to conact her.
If anybody knows anything about descedants of slaves from the Schimmelmann plantations in what used to be the Danish colonies of St. John and St. Croix, I would be greatly interested for information. Long before the islands became the US Virgin Islands, the Schimmelmann's run four plantations there by name of La Grande Princesse, La Grange, Thomas and Carolina.
