Please check the book by Christian Degn "Die Schimmelmanns in der Atlantschices Dreieckehandlung - Gewinn un Gewissen" where there is a very detailed study of the family and their interest in both the plantations in the Vestindies, in the atlantic trade and in the manufacturing of trade goods in Denmark and Schleswig Holstein.
