Interesting research you are doing - please keep us posted. I just got back from a Loudoun county VA research trip - there was a large German settlement there in Lovettsville - but it was pretty much anti-slavery, and voted for the union. However, my home county of Ulster in New York - settled by the Dutch, had a long history of slavery - and there are numerous websites online detailing Dutch families, and slave lists. Just do a google search for "Ulster County NY slaves" and you will get a lot of hits.
