Will - October 22, 1784
"I give and bequeath unto my loving wife, Elizabeth Archer, and to her heirs forever, seven
Negroes, to wit: Jane, Selady, Phebe, Silver, Ritter, Letty and Priss, also one feather bed and
furniture, six silver table spoons, seven silver tea spoons and all my china ware and what cash
or bonds she has in her possession. I lend unto my said wife during her life or widowhood,
five Negroes to wit: Old Abram, Step, young Abram, Nancy and Indian Lucy, also the plantation
whereon I now live, also all the stock of horses, cattle, sheep and hogs on the said plantation,
household and kitchen furniture.
I give unto my son, John Archer, and to his heirs forever, three Negroes now in his possession,
to wit: Will, Adam, and Tom.
I give unto my son, Edward Archer, and to his heirs forever, three Negroes now in his
possession, to wit: David, George and little David, also one lot or tenement in the borough of
Petersburg which I hold as tenant in common with George Robertson."
"I give unto my daughter, Michal Robertson, and her heirs forever, two Negroes now in her
possession, to wit: Davy and Betty (child of Fanny) also one hundred and ten pounds besides
what I have already given her or her husband, George Robertson.
I give unto my daughter, Elizabeth Moseley, six Negroes now in her possession, to wit: Judy,
Salt, Sampson, Effey, Letty, and Tabb and the increase of the said Negroes from the time she
has had possession, also sixty pounds current money besides what she hath already received
or hath been received by her husband, Blackman Moseley, and also the sum of twenty-five
pounds to her and her heirs forever.
I give unto my daughter, Mary Archer, and to her heirs forever, five Negroes, to wit: Charles,
Daphne, Pompey, Boson, and Edy, also six silver table spoons, also six hundred pounds current
money, but in case my said daughter, Mary, should die without heir of her body lawfully
begotten, then what I have given her I desire to be equally divided between my other children,
John, Edward, Agnes, Martha Field, Michal and Elizabeth and their heirs forever."
