Re: Elizabeth Ross (1826-1909)
In Response To: Elizabeth Ross (1826-1909) ()

I took a look at the census on Ancestry and found George and Elizabeth Irons in Pennsyvania in 1900. They had been married for 16 years putting their marriage date circa 1884. Did she also marry Bryson Smith in Pennsylvania or did the first marriage occur in Virginia?

The Taliaferro surname can be found in many counties in Virginia. Is "Law." an abbreviation for Lawrence. Is his name found on some document, which identifies him as her slave owner.

Selma

I am doing research on a slave by the name of Elizabeth Ross(1826-1909). She was born on a plantation owned by a Maj. Law. Taliaferro in Virginia. I am trying to locate any records that may help me in tracing her back to her original origin. She died in Hollidaysburg, Pa. and was previously married to a Bryson Smith before marrying a George J. Irons from Pa. Any help in locating records would be appreciated.
I am also looking into Walkers from Winchester, VA and Weatherlys- Hill from Kosciusko, MS.
