Slave Reparations

I'm often asked by friends, and relatives about my research. They ask, "how far do you plan to go with this?" - "What do you expect to gain from this in the end?"

From the very start, after finding concrete evidence of my 3rd great grandfather, Old John Nicholas, 3rd great aunts, Sukey Diggs, and Emily Early written about in the diaries and letters of their owners. Then locating them still residing in the very holdholds with their owners in census records, locating their marriage records in the Freedman's Records being married on the owners farms... I knew this was much bigger than a common run of the mill family tree.

I have to admit... the actual tree, is just a smoke screen at this point. My real goal, when all is said and done, is to attempt to aquire reparations for ALL of the provable slave lines involved, for 250 years of unpaid labor.

When I mention this to my 85 year old father.. he just laughs, and says "it will never happen". He said many individuals, have already tried this, and failed.

I say, they never tried my method, showing provable evidence of linkage, and attachments to their family's owners! Along with proof of unpaid labor, from the many slave registers, estate wills, diaries, and letters collected of 6 years, and growing.

For I am relentless in my pursuit. I'll keep trying... until.
