Re: Dawkins slaves in Wood Co., VA (now WV)
In Response To: Dawkins slaves in Wood Co., VA (now WV) ()
Hi Deb, It might be helpful if you told us the details of the Will. Were Richard and Daniel inherited by the heirs of John Dawkins, if so who. If the heirs inherited did they remain in the county? Were Richard and Daniel sold to settle the deceased debts? Selma Hi My g.g.g.g.grandfather, John Dawkins, is shown in the 1810 Wood Co., VA (now WV) census. It showed that he had eight slaves (unknown). John Dawkins died April 10, 1840. In his inventory it showed that he had two slaves. One was Richard (a man) & the other was Daniel (a boy). I am very interested in trying to locate the families of Richard & Daniel. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Messages In This Thread
