I know it has been a while. I did more research. Thank you for your pointers. Dudum Broomfield was my 4th great-grandfather and after looking at the 1880 census, to my surprise he was 116 years old in 1880! That's wonderful to know. I knew that he lived in Hancock County Georgia and the census records do match the family stories; however, I don't have any further information. I searched records and wills all over Georgia inclusive of Hancock County and Gray Andrews is the only one that I can find that has Bromfield, which is really close to Broomfield. Anyway, I just want to trace my roots back as far as possible. Thanks for your help.
