Thanks cousin. Your ancestry website is wonderful. Let me know if you find out any information on Moss/Morse slave owners. My paternal grandmother was Cammille Napier Morse (Josephine's granddaugther) and my paternal grandfather was John O. Morse grandson of Robert Morse sometimes referred to as Barban in some records. My maternal grandmother was Rosie Giles Toliver daughter of Tom Giles and Mildred Hughes. Mildred's parents were Delilah and Rueben Hughes of Augusta County, Va listed in 1880 census, but I cant find them in Nelson County. My maternal grandfather was James Toliver the son of Mollie Coleman (Josephine daughter) and Jim Toliver. The Moss, Giles, Tollivers, Colemans all started in Massies Mill. But the Morses migrated all over Nelson County and acquired a great deal of land. There is supposed to be some Native American ancestry in the line through Josephine Coleman and her grandson Bennett Coleman was featured in the Amherst County Times as Cherokee. Josephine is my maternal great grandmother as well as my paternal great grandmother. Her daugther Mollie was my paternal grandfather's mother and her daughter Ardelia was my maternal grandmother mother. Kind of complex. I have not been able to locate that information. Let me know if you find out any additional information.
