Nats, mother Nancy, an African was purchased in 1799 by Benjamin Turner. She gave birth to Nat on October 2, 1800. Nat's father is not named in the book, but his father's mother was "Old Bridget". They were sold to Benjamin's son Samuel Turner.

Not sure how true all of this is, but it's worth taking a look.
