Re: Tracing Slaves Name To Present Survivors

Hi David is right!!!!!! In order to know our past, have to read and research. I was fortunate to have a grandmother that kept all her documents, even the birth and death certificate of my ggrandmother. From thoses documents, I was able to research my gggrandfather and gggrandmother. Their names were Jacob K. Moultrie and Hagar Ann Manigault. I went to the Library of Congress here in D.C. and was able to read and research further back and found what may appear as Hagar Ann's parents or grandparents. I have to continue my research. However, I read the book "Slaves in the Family" and I found the slave owners Moultrie and Manigault. Among Ball, Moultrie and Manigualt, they owned thousands of slaves all over S.C. Along with the LOC and books like Slaves in the Family, I am able to piece together what our ancestors were like. Peace Messages In This Thread |
