Re: Whites discovering African ancestry

I have Harris connections in two ways. My maternal great great grandfather's name was John Page Harris, of Norfolk, Va.

My paternal father's family, the Gentry's of Winchester, Ky, were enslaved by William Bush who married Nancy Gentry, who was the granddaughter of a Harris from either Louisa or Orange Co., Va.

I know there are Texas Gentry's and if we are connected, the connection goes generations back into slavery. There are also Cherokee Gentry's and I have only oral history that says some part of the family was indian, but I have not documentation of that.

Beyond that, I have yet to find other Harris connection.s
